Suplex Retweet Best of 2016 Awards – Top Wrestler – NXT
We continue our Best of 2016 awards with the top wrestler in NXT, who have arguably had their most difficult year since the WWE network began.
Samoa Joe
An ever present in the NXT main events of 2016, Joe greatly benefited from a heel turn in late 2015, producing stellar matches on a regular basis against both Finn Balor and Shinsuke Nakamura, becoming NXTs first two time champion.
Shinsuke Nakamura
Its safe to say that little wrestlers have arrived in NXT to as much fanfare as Nakamura did in March this year. Regarded as many as a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ star, he immediately stamped his authority with a match of the year contender against Sami Zayn at NXT Takeover:Dallas. Many believe a stop on the main roster is near, although he is a reigning two time NXT champ.
Finn Balor
Despite joining the RAW roster in July and becoming the first ever WWE Universal champion, Balor cemented his NXT legacy before his call up, successfully defending his NXT title at the biggest NXT show to date in Dallas. His nine month reign as champ meant he moved to RAW as arguably NXTs greatest ever.
Bobby Roode
Not much has to be said for this one other than one word: GLORIOUS.
Voting in Suplex Retweet’s Best of 2016 Awards is due to open next week. Stay tuned for more details.
