Source Wrestling returns to the Fairfield Club in Govan this Friday (08.11.19) for another incredible night of wrestling for people of all ages!
Govan is a place that always has the best atmosphere when it comes to fan interaction. Everything from cheers and boos to verbally insulting wrestlers and laughing at their misfortunes.
Sarah takes a look at the upcoming Mayhem show.
XERO vs Luke Matthews
The first match involves a feud that has been going on ever since the break up of the Violence Institute. Once a unstoppable unit, now bitter enemies.
The Inhuman has been a thorn in the side of Luke Matthews at every turn. This included costing the Dog of War a chance to make history and dethrone ADM.
On Friday, Matthews looks to take out XERO by any means necessary ahead of his scheduled rematch for the Source Championship against ADM (or whoever walks away as champion from the fatal four way match that night) the following night in Lennoxtown.
The Nine9 vs The Kingdom of Catch
Sadly due to a schedule conflict with More Than Hype, the Kingdom of Catch (Lewis Girvan, Aspen Faith and Sammii Jayne) were without opponents for Govan. Filing the void are the team of the Nine9 (Jack Morris, Dickie Divers and Sara-Marie Taylor).
A lot of first-time evers with the Nine9 in this match. Sara-Marie Taylor has not been seen in Source since 2010. Dickie Divers is returning after a three year absence, and Jack Morris is making his Source Wrestling debut. T
This is also the first time all three members have teamed up inside the ring.
With the Nine9 and the Kings of Catch putting on excellent matches at various promotions across Scotland, and the experience of teaming with Fierce Females champion, Sammii Jayne, it looks to be an interesting 6 person tag match.
Ivelisse vs Amy Allonsy
Kicking off her weekend in the UK, international talent Ivelisse makes her debut for Source in Govan against Fierce Females regular, Amy Allonsy.
Ivelisse made her name known around the world. This includes wrestling for Impact, Evolve and Lucha Underground, where she is a former two-time Trios champion. The Chicago native’s most recent feature was at All Elite Wrestling’s ALL OUT Buy In show during the Casino Battle Royale.
Amy Allonsy has been impressive in the Scottish wrestling scene as of late. The fun loving Irish unicorn has become a mainstay in Scotland’s only all female promotion, Fierce Females. Allonsy’s current accomplishment is capturing the No Limits Wrestling tag team championship alongside More Than Hype’s LJ Cleary.
Safe to say, both these women will be looking to make an impression ahead of their debuts for Source.
2 out of 3 Falls Match
Ravie Davie vs Zander McGuire
It’s been nine months since Zander turned his back on his cousin, Davie, costing him the match for the Source Championship.
The two men are at the point of a grudge match, Zander picked up the win via DQ in their first bout, and then, after a vicious Govan Street Fight, where the fans brought the weapons, Davie was able to to pick up the win. That still hasn’t stopped these two family members from wanting to rip each other apart.
This Friday, they will collide in a match very well suited to put a rivalry to bed – a 2 out of 3 falls match.
There is more to this match than meets the eye. Whoever loses this match will enter the main event rumble match at number 1, and the winner will enter at number 20. So there is all to play for in this match between loving cousins, turned bitter enemies.
Fatal Fourway for the Source Wrestling Championship
Alexander Darwin MacAllan (c) vs Kieran Kelly vs Scott McManus vs Grant McIvor
As of Friday, the first ever, only, and longest reigning Source Wrestling champion, Alexander Darwin MacAllan marks 481 days as champion. Something truly historic. He faces a tough challenge though as he is pitted against three of the other top prospects to come through the wrestling school.
Each man challenging the Clyde River Killer brings their own uniqueness to the table. Scott McManus brings his own style to the ring, a style that only he is accustomed to, known as Hapjitsu, making him an extremely dangerous opponent in the ring.
Kieran Kelly brings new found experience from his spells in ICW and his championship reigns as the SWA X champion as well as being the current PBW tag team champion (with Craig Anthony). Not only that, Kelly brings a high flying quickness that has proved extremely useful in the past.
Grant McIvor brings strength, and quickness to the ring. There is a reason he is called “The Gazelle” after all.
20 Man Over the Top Rope Rumble Match
Winner Will Receive a Championship Opportunity
Only two names have been announced for this rumble match, which are Zander and Ravie Davie. Their places in this match all depend on the outcome of their 2 out of 3 falls match earlier in the night.
There could be a number of people involved in this rumble. A couple people may have already competed on the card, where as there’s a high possibility of some surprises in store in Govan.
Some names I would personally like to see appear in this rumble are as follows:
Skinner made an impressive debut for the company earlier this year and has taken the likes of Robert Wishart and Luke Matthews to their limit.
The team of Kai Williams-King and King Killa are nowhere to be found on this match card, but that wont stop the team of many names from making their presence known.
We all remember Suge’s debut for Source over the tournament weekend in 2018, and Whiplash has openly stated he would like to have Sugar return to Source. Who could ever forget his epic battle with Shaun Walker?
