The road to Wrestlemania gets underway with the first WWE PPV of the year: the Royal Rumble 2018.

The event, to many fans, is the highlight of the wrestling calendar due to it’s namestake match.

With it’s winner guaranteed a world championship match at the grandest stage of them all, the Royal Rumble match is more than a simple battle royale.

This year’s Royal Rumble event arguably contains the biggest development the company has given their audience in many years. Not just one, but two Royal Rumble matches.

For the first time ever, the women of the promotion will have the chance to stamp their ticket to Wrestlemania in the first all-women’s Royal Rumble. The historic nature of the match means that a combination of superstars of past and present is likely. But who will be the one who puts their name in WWE folk-law as the first female Rumble winner.

The men’s matchup has failed to set the world a light in recent years. A combination of a weak overall bout and a poor choice of winners have left fans unsatisfied. Will WWE continue this pattern this year with John Cena and Roman Reigns involved, or will the company throw a curveball by going for a Finn Balor or Shinsuke Nakamura?

With both the Universal and WWE Titles also being defended, the Royal Rumble 2018 has the potential to be one of the company’s best. Steven Wilson and his panel preview the big men and women battle royals, giving our predictions as to who will win and much more.
