For many Glasgow based wrestling Insane Championship Wrestling is the promotion. Many of our panelists are regulars at their Fight Club tapings every month at the Garage nightclub. Some of ESSR’s signature nights out involve assembling at the major ICW shows such as Shug’s Hoose Party and the Square Go.
Now Steven Wilson sits down with the man behind it all. ICW owner and founder Mark Dallas. Wanting to capture the craziness of the attitude era he watched growing up Dallas created ICW as an alternative from the family friendly wrestling that was being presented at the time.
Alongside companies like Progress and Rev Pro ICW was at the forefront of the second boom of the British wrestling scene.
Some of the best wrestlers in the world have stepped into an ICW ring at one time or another. Some of whom are now part of the WWE roster.
Dallas has taken ICW from a small community centre in Maryhill to a company that’s been featured two BBC documentaries, ran shows at the hydro and now has a relationship with WWE and NXT UK.
He tells us all about the journey of ICW so far. From the early days to taking a break from running shows to running venues like the Barrowlands Ballroom to running the SSE Hydro in front of 6000 fans and much more.
