Throughout wrestling history, there has been several storied rivalries.

The likes of Sting/Flair, Michaels/Undertaker and Rock/Austin instantly spring to mind.

Towards the East of the world though, there was one feud that helped establish Japanese wrestling to a larger audience.

At Wrestle Kingdom 11 in 2017, Kazuchika Okada defended his IWGP Heavyweight Title against Bullet Club leader Kenny Omega.

It was a match that got the entire wrestling world buzzing. Given a six star rating by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it also received high praise from Daniel Bryan, Mick Foley and Stone Cold Steve Austin.

If you hadn’t watched it at that point, you were going out your way to see it. It was that good!

Over the next 18 months, the pair would meet a further three times. Each match differed from the previous encounter, with the stakes feeling as though they were getting bigger each time.

By the time Omega and Okada met for the fourth time, the series was dead even at 1-1-1. It’s fair to say that fans are united in the belief that each match was fantastic in its own way.

What does divide fans though is which match is the best in the series. Whilst some love the second match, others say it went on too long. The shortness of the third encounter pleased some, but to others, it was too similar to what came before it.

Either way, there is plenty in the series to analyse. On this latest podcast, Steven and his panel look back at each match in the rivalry between Kenny Omega and Kazuchika Okada.
