On January 1 2019, the news became official that had arguably been months in the making.
The creation of All Elite Wrestling – the brainchild of the likes of Cody and the Young Bucks – was officially confirmed on the Being The Elite YouTube channel.
It followed hot on the heels of the critical and commercial success that was ALL IN, the most successful independent wrestling show of all time.
Backed by the financial muscle of the Khan family, AEW has spent the beginning of the year piecing together their business puzzle.
Signing talent, putting together lucrative contracts, arranging television deals and getting events in place. The first of which takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada on the 25th of May. It’s the unofficial sequel to ALL IN, Double or Nothing.
At the time of recording, 10 matches have been officially announced for what is arguably the most anticipated non-WWE event in a long time.
This is definitely the case for us UK viewers after the news broke recently that the show would be available on ITV Box Office, a welcome change from the sometimes inaccessible sports streaming channels.
Headlining Double or Nothing will be the rematch from NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 12 where Kenny Omega faces off once more with Chris Jericho.
In a battle fans are yearned for since their WWE days, brothers collide as Cody faces off with the man once known as Goldust, Dustin Rhodes. Plus, tow of the worlds best tag teams square off when The Young Bucks take on The Lucha Bros.
