In our first show of the New Year, we look into the future and try and predict what is going to happen worldwide in wrestling over the coming year, including a look into the first big event of the year, Wrestle Kingdom 12.

2017 is firmly in the rear view mirror now.

It was a year which saw the world wrestling take as many twists and turns as you’d expect. It all kicked off with the inaugural WWE United Kingdom Championship tournament which put British Wrestling make on the map.

You then had the ups and down rollercoaster that was Wrestlemania. One minute we were jumping for joy with the return of the Hardys, the next we were weeping at the presumed retirement of The Undertaker.

And that’s all before we consider the return of Chris Jericho to both New Japan Pro Wrestling and independent wrestling

But as exciting as 2017 was, it is in the past now.

2018 is only a few days old but there is already a tonne of interesting developments to dissect already.

Wrestle Kingdom 12 is just days away. In what could be the most important night for New Japan is terms of attracting a Western audience, the show is headlined by the clash between Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho.

WWE is set to make history by running their first ever all-womens Royal Rumble match in just a few weeks time.

And that’s all just in the first month of the year and even before we get to discuss any of the other promotions around.
